Kursk State Medical University (KSMU)
Kursk State Medical University is a Russian Government University. Established in 1935, Kursk State Medical University is ranked as one of the top 10 best Russian Medical Universities. Among its many achievements, KSMU was the first University in Russia to offer students a full medical training programme in the English language.
Kursk State Medical University also known as Kursk State Medical Institute; KSMU; KurskGMU; KurskSMU; Kursk State Government Medical University. The university is listed in the WHO list of world medical schools and also in the International Medical education directory provided by FAIMER.
KSMU also owns a Research Institute of Ecological Medicine as well as a consulting diagnostic policlinic and medical institute. To date KSMU has trained over 44,000 medical professionals across 14 faculties and 67 departments.
The staff body consists of 633 academic staff of which there are 333 PhD and 92 DSc academics serving our 9,000 students. The university boasts a well-stocked library with a subscription of more than 500,000 journals, books and publications. The campus includes four teaching buildings as well as a five student halls of residence. Students also enjoy the recreational facilities onsite including three sports halls and a shooting range.

Medical Degree (Doctor of Medicine)
Kursk State Medical University (KSMU) offers a general medicine Programme. The medical degree, which is designed to meet the General Medical Council’s expectations. The curriculum offers 6-year programme and the graduates will receive a Degree in General Medicine, Doctor of Medicine, Physician in General Medicine which is equivalent of a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.
The purpose-built research facilities within the campus provide the infrastructure and academic environment to ensure the sustained development and expansion of medical research of current challenges and future benefits. The school fosters interdisciplinary collaboration between medics and scientists and is superbly equipped for teaching, research and conference use.
The Programme is plat formed to train qualified physicians oriented to the practice of medicine. Standardized patients are used to evaluate medical students and resident’s ability to communicate with patients, to take patient histories and determine diagnosis and treatment.

Dentistry Degree (Dental Doctor)
The faculty offers a five-year Programme of Dentistry. The teaching-learning process is meant to emphasize the development of practical competence. Careful attention is given to the development of the students’ personality and work habits, stressing on personal skill that are key factors for successful careers. The main advantage of dentistry students studying in the university is the amazing technology students are exposed in to, making them excellent solvers of various anomalies. To enrol for the program in Dentistry, medical graduates are required to pass the relevant “Medical Licensing Examination” in their respective countries.. Direct Entry to MD program - If students have passed Local Advanced Level or London (Cambridge/Edexcel) Advanced Level they can directly apply,
Minimum Entry Requirement - The minimum requirements are CCS (Local A/Level) / CCD (London A/Level) or above. Subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics.
English Requirement - Students require a Credit pass for English in O/Levels or A/Levels.

Students who plan to enrol for the ACT16/ERPM in Sri Lanka to obtain Sri Lanka Medical Council registration to practice medicine in Sri Lanka, should fulfill the Minimum A/Level entry criteria (C,C,S for Local A/L Examination & C,C,D for London A/L Examination in the subjects Biology, Chemistry and Physics) as stated by the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC).
